Honestly speaking as a first timer here, I sincerely doubt Jackmove and BG played Playstation before PS4 because many of their decisions are informed by past decisions. Either that or they simply refuse to Google. Playstation has always had strong support for multiplayer. Literally had multitap since PS1. They've had PC ports on PS1.

PS2 is probably the only one that didn't have them and began their online approach on PS2. PSN didn't get refined till PS4. PS4 was mostly the refinement of what the PS3 started. PS5 carried the torch even further, and is now reclaiming the PS1/PS2’s spark. Because this year contains Mascot platformers, obscure Asian titles, a weird collaboration with tentpole game to transform it into a family game.

The irony of asking where the tentpole games are, is that some naturally wouldn't be ready yet. Forbidden West and Ragnarok just released in 2022. So question is when is fabled showcase 🤔?

Bruh… Xbox is not an indicator of the industry. Likely Playstation wanted Live Services because PS3 was the starting point and self sustenance is actually wise. But PSN back then was utter dog shit. PS4 was generation of reclaiming lost 3rd party dominance, carrying 1st party established during PS3, and preparing PSN. Sony makes too much money on Playstation to copy the exact same plays as Xbox. The exploration they've done before and will only push as far as it doesn't jeopardize Playstation sales. It's The highest earning segment of Sony.

That's why Xbox's pivot is unique. Consoles are essentially purchased store fronts. They generate money to sustain and profit. Xbox selling worse not only YoY but less predecessors means the value of further investment is low to nonexistent, and ultimately just cost them money to produce, R&D, and maintain.

We'll see where the Live Service games go, but gotta be honest, im not overly concerned. Because the more successes they have, the more it's weened off because you naturally wouldn't want too many to start cannibalizing each other.

I don't understand your logic about exclusivity. If I make clothing strictly for the U.S. and deny myself making higher profits globally, one would say that's a horrible business strategy. Exclusivity is a thing of the past, ask MS and Sony. At this point, we might as well accept that PC will ultimately be the best place to play. And that's coming from a gamer who owns all consoles and has been gaming since the early 80's.

Yes you don't understand the strategy it's actually a brilliant strategy Phil Spencer is doing taking down PlayStation… he realized he's not going to beat him doing the same thing over and over he wasn't making ground but launching games that blow up huge like sea of Thieves on PlayStation makes the PlayStation Community pay Xbox wow PlayStation is not putting games on Xbox not making that extra money like Xbox is… they're slowly going to take over the number one spot in gaming and not only that when big games come out that's when they drop them like Stellar blade only sold 1 million cuz sea of Thieves crushed everything and blew up on the platform so these ponies celebrate it I know that's the only reason you care is to brag to your buddies I don't even know if you play video games…. definitely hang with too many clowns and ponies… but Phil Spencer is taking them down from the inside and you don't even realize the strategy… when they start making more money than Sony which is coming very soon they're almost there now… and this is all without the games dropping yet wait until the game start dropping and Game Pass blows up even more and the platform blows up even more… they're doing the right thing they're going to end the console war and break down those barriers Ansonia is going to be too dumb to realize and too dumb to follow suit… an Xbox is going to blow past them and become the number one organization in gaming and they're going to make the PlayStation platform help fund The Game Pass and help fund all of our gaming for pennies on the dollar….. if you really break it down and look deeper than this light explanation you will see that what they are doing consistently take down Sony and catapult them ahead…. cuz it also is good marketing getting Playstation guys to realize how good Xbox games are and the rest of the world getting introduced to those games will make them say why am I paying $70 for this when I could have all these games for one low subscription cost and on top of that I get free DLC Cosmetics in-game currency perks characters and more…. for list waring it's a strategy that you're not going to like..but as a business strategy it's going to be the one that succeeds the most… they don't have to do the same strategy as as Sony locking everything down isn't going to magically make people all over the world leave PlayStation and buy an Xbox or everybody buy an Xbox I finally realized that that's just not going to happen some people are just going to game wherever they want to game and never change….. if you dig deeper you will understand more it's actually genius and you are so blinded by having one up on your buddies that you can't even realize it….. I mean Stellar blade is a prime example it shit the bed because of sea of Thieves… that's going to for Sony to go day and date PC and Microsoft still going to kill them because they're going to have PC and Playstation money… plus everyone's going to talk about it and they're going to be the Talk of the Town like they always are which is free marketing and it's going to drive even more people to the platform when games are dropping left and right…. you should embrace this strategy it's absolutely amazing and you just don't understand the possibilities of what they can do with the strategy.. games that aren't making money anymore and have PlayStation flood money that they could use for Game Pass or the platform on a game that's four or five years old and not making money on the Xbox platform anymore…. it's actually genius after a while people aren't going to want to wait the three or four or five years to play that game they're just going to get Game Pass I think it's a great way to show the rest of the gaming world how good your games and ecosystem really is because no one's going to come find out on their own
