It gives mobile game ad because it's a teaser, not a trailer
If they wanted to keep it with blocks, they should have done normal minecraft with shaders
I really think they should have just made the film look more like fantasy like.
I think they should have gone the Lego movie route, like embrace the game esthetic and make it a fun story about the player. Like steve could be the main character and its about bonding and creativity! Ive never played Minecraft but i like the lets plays and videos of people building huge architectures.
Im going to give the movie a chance, no expectations. I like that they kept the blockiness of it and Jack black is always a good time even if the movie is bad.
More halfassed IP mining
It looks insanely rushed.
This is how I felt when I saw Tron: Legacy 😢
Niko: Obviously yes, blocks are like the biggest part of minecraft asthetic/theme today. Maybe it didnt start out that way, but thats the truth. It wouldn't be a minecraft movie without blocks or block shapes
Blockiness makes Minecraft what it is. Without it, it would just look like they were outside in some random locale.
That might be the stupidest thing I have ever heard
The Minecraft movie is something that I really hope touches on the two voices that you see when you go through the portal after killing the dragon. I always thought that that was super interesting, the implications that there were some higher powers in Minecraft.
What do you do with the blocks? Apparently you make a CGI disaster with horrible casting and no idea what Minecraft even is
It could’ve worked without the blocks but I guess then they would’ve to make a better movie with a more serious tone
I really hope they remake the movie in animation, just scrape the whole live action thing
Minecraft uses polygons arranged into blocks, not voxels.
I'm gonna sound like such a nerd but minecraft isn't actually a voxel game, it uses polygons like most other games the blocks were a stylistic choice that allowed for easy destruction and construction of the environment. 🤓
Not making anything minecraft blocky would be like re-making space invaders and not having them start off slow and speed up.
The technical limitation becomes the defining feature; it becomes the USP … Nothing wrong with that.
If the Minecraft movie didn't have a blocky world – just because it's high-fidelity live action – it would just be a generic fantasy film with a slightly quirky mining theme 🤷🏼♀️😅
Jack black sold his friend out for this movie
I don't like it. I know I'm not the target audience and that's fine. But even my 10 year old nephew that loves Minecraft to death doesn't like it. He said it looks weird and it doesn't feel like it would be good. Now I know I'm not going to watch it so there's nothing for me to loose from this but still. I'd hope it would look better than this. Like this movie could have easily been an animated movie rather than what ever this is.
This will be worse than Borderlands.

You guys really should check out the Minecraft dark fantasy trailer by hello there it shows what could have been
Minecraft x Jumanji
pretty sure they just used AI. thats why its so inconsistent
It looks like an SNL commercial.
Yes about the mobile game ad thing! Something about it just looks so, so cheap
I thought Minecraft doesn't use voxels?
Ive seen so many start hating jack black because of this movie its insane
Perfect demonstration of 'wanna be first' instead of doing it with passion
I wonder how refreshing is that Hater-aid…
It's the people I just don't get. They look so obviously not there it's silly. The rest of it actually looks quite good, in my opinion.
guys, I know your probably gonna ignore me or not notice me but PLEAASE react to the vfx job on the last episode of young Sheldon (specifically the tornado part)
Can somebody tell me what it is that momoa makes on the crafting table?
"We dont know if thats a bad thing?" *side-eye winks off camera
To imply that the brand for Minecraft is not in fact “blocks” is pretty ridiculous. We’re talking about a movie that has to make an enormous sum of money. What do general audiences know? Blocks. That’s it.
That's not necessarily how the game had to function, it is now it's aesthetic, It looks like a mobile game ad because of the use of live action and poor green screening
This Trailer looks like a Comedy/ Parody Sketch. Saying it looks bad is an understatement.
Yeah i hoped for a short period of time that live action was truly going to be live action and be like the story behind the game
Did it steal the blue cube idea from corridor crew?
They should’ve made it an epic, live action, dark fantasy, Minecraft movie
The people in charge of this movie 100% don’t even know what minecraft is
they should’ve just made the characters animated or done actual live action
I can guarantee that this movie will have almost nothing to do with Minecraft. It'll be a crappy movie with a crappy story filled with propaganda with a Minecraft skin. If and when it fails they will blame everyone else for its failure and not themselves.
Minecraft doesnt use voxels
The main cast not being block shaped is what peeves me the hardest
Its a bad thing! this movie’s already terrible the fact they just threw a blue shirt on big ol jack black and are calling him steve?!
aaaaand it's yet another fucking Isekai story… get ready for another complete train wreck of a video game movie folks.
Is minecraft's identity blocks? Yes. Why does everyone have to be such a hater..
i personally think the half blocky half realistic look is fine, it feels like minecraft but a little more smooth
but the mobs are too realistic, that's the main thing that makes me lose hope as well as the main cast not being blocky
