A lot of these I wouldn't even consider RPG, I would say their Action first RPG second. It sucks that in this time action games are considered RPG if they have even just a little story that only takes up less than 20% of the game, and the rest is just mashing buttons in action mode🔫

God of War isnot An Open World RPG. Its basicly a Semi open world RPG. And What a huge Lack you didnt mention about Red dead redeemtion 2, i think that was a very bold symbol of open world RPG game of decade. But thanks alot for bringing this post. Iam a true fan of open world RPG game.

The Witcher 3 had this super "immersive" feature where it would teleport you if you got too close to the edge of the map LOL never understand why people thought that game was great — it was mid at best.

ac odessy was 1 of the first games i played after a 25 years without gaming at all(last game when i stoped was PS1´s FF 7) So there was a bit of a shock seing how the graphics and stuff had improved during the last 2 and a half decades in games…

The assassins creed games i 1st played was in a row starting w ac oddessy and then origins and these i just sat down with n didnt stop until i had finished them during about 2months of gameplay for me w a few shooters inbetween to mix games up a bit.

Kingdoms of amalur+remastered version are what i would call oldies but goldies w alot of fun to have and pretty good visuals still in 2024..

Witcher 3 is the best game if on pc
Zelda breath of the wild if u play on Nintendo Switch but i myself would rather play witcher 3 still on switch

Arguably, the most immersive Open World RPG with great dialogue and a great DLC is Kingdom Come Deliverance. It raised my standards on open world RPGs, it's so good. I'm glad the sequel to it is coming this year.

Skyrim should be number 1, easily.

From this list my favs are : Ghost of Tsushima ,Witcher 3, final fantasy xv, legend of zelda , ac Odyssey As i play only open world games and i love combat games with sword, bows etc

Yeah, it is hard to argue. Horizon gets me with the masterful telling of the Apocalypse and story. Each their own, but the thought and realism amazes me. I am a story guy. For me, a game player of 40 years plus. Off the top of my head because that's what is truly memorable. BG3, Witcher 3, FF7 all versions, Horizon series, Wasteland series, Rockstars, Ubisoft's, Bethesda's, Diablos, Skyrim's Crags like dragon age, divinity 2, and fallout series. All the Yakuza, games that are awesome but mess with y depression like Elden Ring and all the demon/blood-borne stuff. Turn based X=com 2 is awesome. I am sure I forgot some, but the Max Payne remake has me excited, back in the day its series was awesome. Almost forgot the Mass Effect series. With all of this, there are games I have forgotten and have not played.
