  1. Hey SwitchUp Family – it's not easy to choose just FIVE games each – what would your top five be? Mark

  2. Chained Echoes, Three Houses, Octopath, DQ11, Live a Live, SO2, 13 Sentinels, Unicorn Overlord, Xenoblade series are highlights for me this generation. I have a sneaky feeling I'm going to add Triangle Strategy to this list.

  3. Sea of stars was the kind of game that you waited for it to get good any moment! any moment.. any moment… 10 hours later… ditched it.

  4. Thanks for your review. I literally love the Xenoblade chronicles and Xc3 is my favorite. I have 660hrs clocking in 3 alone and I plan to replay ghe base game and DLC because I tried playing many RPGs on the switch and Steam and Xc3 still tops every one of it.

  5. Super Mario RPG Remake, Bravely Default 2, Unicorn Overlord, Xenoblade 3 and Dragon Quest 11 are my favorite RPGs on this system.
I still need to play persona5 but, the switch gave me more than enough already.

  6. Happy to see The Legend of Heroes get some love. I'd put Zero or Reverie on this list if it wasn't for the fact that those are not the best starting points. Couldn't finish the first Octopath Traveler. 10 hours in and enemies that gave insignificant exp would take forever to kill.

  7. For Xenoblade I’d have a hard time picking 1 or 3 as the best. Two is the worst, but not to say its bad – the others set a high bar.
1 had story, characters, atmosphere, etc. that had me engaged. I can still see certain beats in my mind. But some mechanics, like gems, I hated. I have no big complaints about 3 its well rounded, it just didn’t take me to the same emotional heights.
If you’re going to play all, play them in order – their stories intersect heavily. If you’re not going to play all, don’t worry about it, they work standalone.

  8. Just picked up Xenoblade 3 from Argos for £35 in a clearance sale and Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance from Amazon for £34. Bargain. Cheers for the recommendations!

  9. Its kinda sad that Atelier Ryza trilogy isn't on your list when it was because of you guys that I bought the physical games and specially hunted for the 2nd one since its kinda rare here in my country 😅

  10. I feel sorry for the Chained Echoes creator because he signed up with 1st Press Games to get a physical release for the game and they are a terrible company making constant excuses for the delays they always seem to have for all their titles.

  11. I jokingly call my Switch my JRPG machine because I have more JRPGs on my Switch than any other console. I'm playing Sea of Stars now, and loving it. I do think Chained Echoes is higher on my list of favorites though. Chained Echoes seems to get overlooked a lot and imo, it's one of the best indie JRPGs.

  12. XBC is probably my favorite remaster of all time. I already loved Xenoblade on the Wii, almost 100% , but I did the whole thing on the Switch. Too bad I didn't like 2 that much and didn't even bother with 3 ( because, being Xenoblade, it's a huge time sink)
