Reading Negative Dark Souls Steam Reviews

Eh I don't like souls games. Just not for me. Did like bloodborne.

Dark Souls One is a thing of beauty especially that first playthrough of the game and don't even get me started on beating Ornstein and Smough for your first time.

As good as Dark Souls is, dogs are absolute garbage in all From Software games except Sekiro. A group of three dogs is
harder than any boss.

My most nostalgic moment was when I smoked some good reefer right before going into garden root basin and just walking in a loop for like a hour thinking "this is a big ass forest bro"

Dark Souls 1 on PC is garbage if I wanted to play with a controller I would do it on a console

Your vids motivated me to jump back in to DSR. Ended up not only finishing the game, but doing a full NG+ run right after finishing.
Not sure yet if the game cracks my top 5 of all time, but it is at the very least now in my top 10.

the only real criticism of DS1 might be those horrible hitboxes and netcode that wasnt fixed in the remastered version, other than that is the Silver Knight Archers and the fact that compared to modern soul games, its a bit short, but thaose are just tiny criticisms of the game

I hated Blighttown on my first playthrough, but now I know about coming in from Valley of the Drakes (even without the Master Key) and now I think it's OK.

I cannot take people seriously who say that Souls games need an difficulty option…

Difficulty in Souls games can be easily lowered with knowledge gathered by using your eyes. But people want "Let me mash random buttons and tell me I won." kind of game.

Also if you do the same thing over and over and over again in Souls game and you are not changing your approach, you really need to rely on luck to overcome an obstacle. Those games are about adapting.

Thing is I like Elden Ring, but the Dark Souls series seems… janky to me. They seem like good games (even Dark Souls 2, even if it's not as good as DS1 or 3), but the janky movement of DS1 and the sad, depressing atmosphere… I just didn't feel it. But after Elden Ring, I'll be watching their next games. One game I'd be curious to try would be Bloodborne, but that's not on PC.

Dude, do you know how expensive Steam Prepare to Die edition keys are? I would rather buy the PS5 PROfit.

I have a physical disability that limits my hand eye coordination. Like, it was really bad growing up but i was able to platinum this game. Most of these reviews can be boiled down to "skill issue."

I can kinda understand both bad and good reviews, because it took me three attempts to like the game and get into soulslikes. The problem behind most bad reviews is the wrong mindset that comes from consuming AAA slop for years until you subconsciously turn off your brain as soon as a game launches. It takes time and mental effort to get out of that.

I'm kind of torn with the FromCoreSoulsBorne series, can't decide a favorite. Never played BB, though that ought to change soon, what with the insane emulation progress.

Hey Joe I don't know if you will ever read this but if you want to read some negative comments on Dark Souls 1 let me try- it's an overrated game coasting on nostalgia. After playing Nioh,ER, DS3, BB or God forbid Sekiro DS1 is painfully slow. It feels like running at 0.25x speed. In base game take away OnS, there is not any other boss I fondly want to fight. For every other game there is at least 4-5 and some cases more bosses I fondly remember. DS1 has OnS in base game and that's it. In terms of areas Anor Londo and Sens Fortress are great areas and everything else is mid or trash. So overall clunky slow gameplay and shitty bosses make it a very overrated game.

Honestly the fucking original version of dark souls 1 does not work. I know because I wanted to give it a try and after hours i could not get it to work with dsfix. I am happy they took it down it's for the best
