i could imagine there would be people who would get this game just for the figurines; they look pretty impressive

My go-to Miniatures game was Wizards of the Coast's Star Wars Miniatures. Plenty of fun years there. The community's also still releasing virtual sets since the game was officially discontinued, so there's still new content.

Used to love this game, but some group fell apart.

Are they pre-built minis or do you have to build and paint them? There was another MARVEL minis game I bought then had to return because all the minis were not built/painted and it didn't say that.

I would suggest Heroscape as a miniatures board game to play but you said in the video you don't really vibe with miniatures games.

This definitely feels like a fiddly ameritrash combat game for those that appreciates hyper detailed games

Are you excited for the upcoming Cyberpunk board game? It looks pretty similar with the cards and figurines and such

Thats the problem with these starter sets, its sort of the worst way to play the game since team building is half the fun. The equivalent of giving out 1/3rd of an MTG deck to teach people, they would find the game very limited.
Back in 2002 the starter set for the game was a couple random boosters, I think thats a better way to do it over these prebuilt teams.

Personally, I've played Heroclix about 4 times in my life and I always found it very tedious and unsatisfying.

I don't play currently, but I did play Heroclix for about 18 years. You did a really good job of explaining the basics in a short amount of time! You're right that there's a lot to keep track of, though. It really is a bit less like a board game and closer to a miniatures game.

there's also the Transformers version which are collector's items.

Played HeroClix with my dad and brother as a kid! Giant maps with lots of characters (Not just Marvel) though. I would guess we didn’t 100 percent follow all the exact rules.
