Correction: in the video I mentioned that GammaOS is in the works for the device, but I’ve since learned that development has stalled due to a lack of source files from Anbernic. If you are a developer and want to help, here is the error log from the GammaOS developer’s GitHub:

This was a review unit sent to me by the manufacturer. All…

  1. My friends: I made a grave mistake, and labeled Wind Waker as Link’s Awakening during the GameCube testing section. I hope you find it in your hearts to forgive this very serious error. This channel used to be good, but now it’s like Anbernic RG556 analog sticks — terrible!

  2. Just got the Odin 2 and I'm thinking maybe I should have gone with this one.
Bigger grips, joysticks that are not directly above d-pad and below ABXY.
and a better screen. With almost as good of a SoC

  3. I installed PS Remote Play on my RG556, but when I open the app, it displays an error code of 8800XXXX.

  4. Thank you for your video…i am in 2 minds re RG556…thinking that i should probably get Odin 2 as its much better device

  5. Is it possible to play titles from Mame32 like Violent Storm, Vendetta, Cadillacs and Dinosaurs?

  6. I just got me a rg 556 handheld but I have no clue where to begin or even what I should do to get a better experience. Because I got the one that came with the SD card and everything seems to work but I kind of would like to optimize everything to get a little bit more of performance but I just have no clue where to even start.

  7. Is it wrong that I'm fascinated by all these handheld systems even though I don't play much retro gaming ? My wallet doesn't need this.

    God to be 12 again

  8. Classic Anbernic: great device but meh controls. Has kept me from swapping my MM+ for an RG35xx H

  9. Would this be the best device to buy for someone looking to be able to run nearly all roms loaded onto these things?
Really keen to get my hands on a device that can play almost all of them just yet to pull the trigger on anything yet

  10. Been thinking about getting one of these emulator handhelds but I don't want to have to install or setup the emulators or have to find the roms for the games. So my question is? Will this handheld plug and play out of the box or do you have to do some setup or install of some kind?

  11. Hear me out …

    1) This form factor. Keep the T820, itll just get cheaper and cheaper anyway.
    2) swap out the oled for an ips touch screen. Drop down to 720 or 900p (Ill qualify this)
    3) PROPER sticks. Why is this so hard?
    4) ditch the needless cost of rgb thumbstick lighting
    5) 2 sd card slots, hdmi out, bluetooth and wifi
    6) 8000mah battery (this is WAY more feasible than youd think lol) I was able to easily fit a 10,000 mah battery in my rg35xxh, a much much smaller device.

    120$.

OLEDs are for sure a big part of the cost of this device. A nice IPS screen is FINE for basically everything in every scenario. Dropping the resolution on such a small screen GREATLY increase battery life. Combined with a much larger battery, this will give you days on a charge, not *hours*. I dont understand why this is so hard haha.

  12. Would you suggest this as a suitable handheld alongside the steam deck? I started setting up srm and had hours of hours of picking matching images(same cover types) but still nowhere near done. I still somehow cant justify playing such lower end games on the deck though. Also it would free on extra space, what do you think?

  13. It's a waste of money. Instead, buy a good phone at that price, install an emulator on it, get a phone joystick for 10$ and enjoy having both a phone and gaming device in one place

  14. I was poking around amazon and found silicone covers for this.
So you can make this less slick, not have it collect fingerprints as easily, kinda change the color of the device, or just get it to prevent scratches

  15. Mine should be here in a week or so. Beware for new buyers like myself. There are companies rebranding these and selling them for a higher price. Retropixel is one to look out for, they advertise heavily on social media. Almost got me before i did some research.
