Anbernic RG406V In-Depth Review

The Anbernic RG406V is an interesting combination of familiar and new; it features an established chipset and shell, but with brand new analog sticks and a high-resolution screen. Let’s see if these incremental updates are enough to consider picking up this handheld.

  1. Yo!
My nephews (13,12) recently got into pokemmo on my RP4pro. I want to get them an inexpensive handheld that can handle pokemmo. They’re not really into retro games but something powerful enough to play up to n64. Recommend a handheld? Anyone?

  2. I did for her character. I gotten used to meeting girls who are selfish and just want to have fun and nothing serious

  3. what kind of power does it take to run Saturn these days? I've not been keeping up sry

  4. I'd love one and i don't know why but i like the thick bezels in this case … and i bet i can mod it to do charging and display at the same time with a cheap usb charging module

  5. Good morning. I have a problem with the R36s. If you could help me, I just updated the system to the most recent version but it doesn't save the levels. I go to save and they are saved but only while the device is on. I turn it off and when I start it to continue where it was saved, the saved file is no longer there. I hope you can help me please.

  6. Hey Russ please let me know if we get a ported version of the karate kid street rumble for ambernic devices.

  7. I am for sure waiting. I am passing on the new retroid pocket as well with hopes that the next 16×9 anbernic comes out with will be a real competitor. I love the form of the rg556, but hate the compromises vs the retroid pocket 4proplusorwhatever. I have an idea for a goldilocks device and I won't go into the $150+ range unless they nail it.

  8. Im really excited about what is coming too, the obvious 406M is goin to be really awesome with the new analog sticks! I hope they can make the right choice and give us some analog inputs at shoulder and triggers

Great video as always! Thank you for your work Russ! Huge fan here

  9. The number of these emulator devices released is insane with minor incremental improvements

  10. Is the 128gb really worth it? Last time i got it w my 35xx it was alot of the same games and slowed the loading times down.

  11. hand-device retro witch cost over 100$–> are pricy devices and doesn't give that much value. Just wait and bought steamDeck or similar witch have more power and better build quality.

  12. The biggest downside I see is being limited to playing just a few hours of co-op on the TV while the battery dies. Playing co-op on the tv with a friend or family is one thing I’d really like to do. A few hours should be sufficient I’m just a bit disappointed there is no solution. I’m probably getting this for my first device. I haven’t really ever played horizontal just played gameboy and gb color growing up so I kinda wanted a vertical handheld to start. I like the improved sticks to finally match the industry standard at this price, improved resolution, quieter back buttons, and powerful to play a good bit of gc & ps2, and the fact that it’s a vertical handheld. I don’t mind the weight, bulk of the device or extra bezel on the side.

  13. I think I’m sold on the 406v over anything under $220 to start but will wait until the holidays to see if price drops. Based on the few reviews I watched this one works for me and don’t mind the criticisms mentioned. I was looking at cheaper vertical handhelds but now favor this one lol

  14. Dang. Snagged one. Perfect 4:3 compliment to my RP4 Pro. The white one is 👌

  15. Since I ordered my anbernic device and it is stuck in customs, 3 new devices have been announced and I still don’t have my horribly outdated device.

  16. Honestly, the simple fact, that a better device might just be around the corner is the sole reason i have not picked up any of the emulation devices. Maybe ill just finally pull the trigger on an analogue pocket and be done with the constant waiting and comparing..

  17. I love the design…

It's my favorite out of all the anbernic designs…

I have a telescope controller for my phone….. And this is what i want for emulation…

Horizontal just seems so played out??? Idk? I love this form factor for some reason

  18. Hey retro game corps could you rank handhelds from anbernic in 2023-2024 handhelds when 2025 comes around?
