  1. I saw that Similo has a version featuring Animals and another featuring Wild Animals. I haven't seen anyone use those decks in video tutorials or reviews, but I saw they exist. Those are the editions which I'd be most interested in playing. The historical figures edition would also interest me. Fables & myths are just not as interesting as real animals & real people. My understanding is that you can combine decks, too.

  2. Forest Shuffle is wild (and I wish they had a better scoring sheet, because man is end game scoring a chore) BUT it is just heaven for combo/card synergy lovers like me. #whatcanisay #ComboKween And I sympathize with Naveen (and my friend John, who HATES Winspan for this reason), but I personally just love the strategy of digging for cards. I think it is a good counter-balance to min-maxing in that you never know what you may get, but sometimes you hit gold… it's almost like push-your-luck in that aspect, but is definitely a strategy that makes sense for Eco-themed games to me, in that you get rewarded fro being opportunistic and scavenging can lead to bigger payouts. All this to say: Monique, when am I challenging you to a BGA game of this????

  3. We just purchased Sail and it is quite the challenge. We do love the meeple upgrade. We were a bit unclear on the pirate powers, though. Does that mean that only the person who wins the trick can use that power? (Spoiler, that is not how we played it. :P)

  4. Thanks for the video!
I've only played PUSH, which is very fun to play and, though it is push-your-luck, somewhat thinky in terms of if you want to bank a color of claimed cards to avoid them being lost from an unlucky die roll. One of those rare games where you don't want to roll the dice.

All the other four games I'd definitely would like to give a play. CDSK testing trivia knowledge but on one's personal scale. Simlio like the classic Guess Who? but using its other cards. Sail a 2P cooperative trick-taker that seems interesting, seeing how each trick can be pivotal to succeed. And Forest Shuffle with the Fantasy Realms vibe where the cards used in purchase (to add trees and wildlife) are discarded to the meadow and could possibly be claimed by any player on a future turn.

  5. Push is a great one for my niece and nephew. They love the fact that the other can lose it all, so it comes out often in the summer to play at the pool.

  6. We got Forest Shuffle at Essen Spiel some months ago and we hust love it! It‘s so fun to try to find the perfect engine. Yes, there‘s a learning curve…. But you will get better after every new game. A top game of 2023 for us!👌

  7. To be fair, Wingspan is a giant luckfest where you are entirely at the mercy of what comes out of a giant deck of cards. I wouldnt have as much of a problem with that if the game was shorter, so I will definitely give Forest Shuffle a try. Thanks for the reviews.

  8. Thanks for the review of CDSK! We are out of print right now, the game became popular faster than what we expected. More coming in spring 2024. 🎉🎉🎉

  9. I've played with the Similo History deck, I think it's the coolest since you can go for similarities and differences about the person's history. Playing a DaVinci to hint towards Newton makes me happy as a history lover.

  10. Haven't played any yet but I've always wanted to try Similo. I'm also interested in Sail and Forest shuffle.

  11. Hi, Monique and Naveen! Dropped an email asking for boardgame-theemd gender reveal party suggestions. Hope to hear from you two. Love your vids always!

  12. I have forest shuffle and I really like it. It plays well at 3 and 4 players and adds a bit more difficulty and strategy since somebody else might get a discarded card you like. There’s gonna be a bit of a down time especially when turns get a little longer but other than that, it’s a great game. The more you play it the more you discover scoring strategies or combinations.

  13. So glad you guys loved Sail! I had a feeling you would. Definitely one of my favorites from this past year. Forest Shuffle is good, too. I tend to like those types of card games, though it can get a little same-y compared to something like Ark Nova or Race for the Galaxy.

  14. I really liked Forest Shuffle on BGA, and was looking to get a physical copy, but some people seemed to complain about complexity of the scoring. Did you guys have that issue?

  15. Toil and Troublez from Grandpa Beck is a much better version of PUSH. It has a better theme, and it flows really well. I'd recommend trying that over PUSH.

  16. I like the idea of providing your own playing piece. Some of my siblings bring their favorite piece to use when we have family game day. His is a small statue he calls Fred.
