Yesterday’s Escalation of Freedom content is live, but the focus is on the balance changes. This balance philosophy is a systemic problem within Helldivers. The studio says one thing, but then does something completely opposite.

  2. Players want a low difficultly god mode simulator, it makes them feel good till it gets boring because there's no challenge then they quit and play something else.
    Balancing op stuff (nerfing), buffing terrible stuff and insuring difficulty on high difficulty makes for a better game that will retain more players as skill matters more.
    People get but hurt when they can't use something op to play harder difficulty's that their skill level allows for.

  3. A friend joined our group last night that had fallen off for months. We played some of the new level 10 missions and I was having fun but after we finished it sounded like he had already had enough. So I'm not sure this will be enough to bring many lapsed players back for long.

  4. None of it makes sense unless you consider the idea that the developers don’t want the game to be too good. Which sounds ridiculous in itself. But what if they realize they could make this game amazing and then too many people will play it like when it launched and they don’t have the server strength to keep up with it. So they get some of the hard-core players to stay. And everyone else just comes back periodically. And others drop it for good.
    Maybe this is what they want.

  5. Difficulty 10 and weapon nerf? Nerfing gives you effect like you are being grounded for so much of work and time you spent in game. Nerf on weapons has no sense at all. Imagine having AK-47 in real life when you know how it does and you tested it so many times and it changes over night misticaly. Keep the weapon as it is and design another. This approach destroys the playfulness more then anything

  6. Done with this game, They killed it. Can’t do anything right. They keep saying they’re listening but they don’t listen to SHIT. They would’ve had a great and successful game if they’d just shut the fuck up and listen to the player base. Talking to you Alexus.

  9. I can deal with operational modifiers (Murphy's Law), the changes to weapon damage, the overwhelming numbers. Helldivers will adapt…..BUT I cannot stand the idea that we have fewer and fewer mags. A basic combat load for any Soldier is 6 mags. I find it insulting that battle-hardened Soldiers would choose to bring fewer than that in a growing environment that gets more and more difficult. If anything, bring even more. I don't care if it means being slower, give me my mags back.

  10. they need to stop being stupid and make ALL weapons viable… the game should also have solo missions. Not everyone wants to play with randoms… Studios really are out of touch. Arrowhead has lost 85-90+% of the playerbase since launch…. so ya I dont know thats a pretty big drop. They should be catering to the players not trying to be niche.

  11. The fact that they're catering to people who claim the game is too easy is kinda silly considering someone in their own studio said the highest difficulty they'd gotten to was 5 during the livestream.

  14. The biggest disconnect I see js realism vs believability. They make us weaker and less effective, but that isn't believable in the game universe.

    Is it realistic than our diver gets woken up from cryo sleep to fight a war? No. But it makes oerfect sense in the game, so having crappy weapons makes no sense when our space ships can do FTL jumps at the drop of a hat.

  15. If they want us to fight w stratagems, (which is really a b.s. line) they need to cut literally the entire board of cooldown timers for strats by at least 50%. Also, we have been recommending a test server since the first month to avoid exactly these problems – zero updates or mentions of that

  16. As a solo player, this game has only become increasingly more frustrating than fun. The enemy patrol spawns are still an issue, and I feel it highly effects solo players more than full teams. Theres absolutely no reason that playing on difficulty 5 should be as difficult as its become. Seems like the issue isnt even being discussed anymore since the spawns were "fixed." They're not fixed at all. THEN, they nerf the incin breaker and buff enemies? I havent played since the last update, and I wont until Arrowhead actually learns something.

The breaker incendiary was so enjoyable because you were able to spend MORE TIME SHOOTING BUGS and feel like you were doing some good, while spending less time scrambling around with empty mags searching for ammo or waiting for stratagem cooldowns. It was fun, it felt fun to use, it was fun to do good damage against a good amount of things.

    Now its a scramble-fest again, waiting for cooldowns on stratagems with no ammo

  18. Only problem is you’re basing your argument on it being a power fantasy. It isn’t. Helldivers is not Space Marine, you’re a drop trooper dropping into Hell. it’s in the name even. Not dropping into a kindergarten, to punch toddlers. It’s supposed to be hard and borderline “suicidal”

  19. Helldiver strength comes from teamwork and firepower. The enemy’s strength ultimately comes from numbers. Nerfing our ability to take on the sheer number of enemies breaks the fun of the game. Here’s to hoping that some of these bad ideas get reverted. Please AH, revert the change to fire 🙏🏼🔥

  20. Global interest is probably one of the worst things that ever happened to this game. The demands are already there. Like all franchises that are getting big, this game too will become bland and characterless to make the masses happy, forgetting about the people who first supported it. HD1 was made to be hard; on the hardest level, there was no way to defeat enemies if you got detected, only to slow them down enough to complete the objective. Developers are trying to recreate that feeling, but do not fear, all you newcomers—there are too many of you for the developers to ignore. They will soon give in to your demands. The weapons will get only stronger and stronger, the new stratagems released will be clearly more powerful than those that came before them, and maybe we will reach the point where mighty chargers will be one-shotted with primaries. The game will lose all that made it unique and will become the same tasteless sludge the game industry offers everywhere. Maybe then some of you will reflect on what was lost. They will give in to your demands. Just be careful what you wish for.

  21. One small thing, the realism might not be the most consistent but respawns are “reinforcements” which is heavily implied that a new helldiver is brought into the game

  22. It's not primarily about the weapon nerfs, but rather what condition the game is in. It still has the same Childhood illnesses as when it was released and for me the situation is as follows! It's like EA with the Frostbite-Engine, they'll probably never get Helldivers 2 patched. It smells like the same principle

  23. I've been playing since day 1, over 600 hours in so I've gotten my money's worth. But the constant making things people are using to force them to change is exhausting. Will get warbond tomorrow but I'm not super excited after the "Yuge" update.

  25. Personally I hate playing with people using the incendiary breaker, the amount of times I get set on fire is ridiculous. The gun absolutely should have gotten nerfed and honestly the nerf it got is such a slap on the wrist, i wanted less damage and less ammo. The flamethrower nerf is bullshit however.

I hate it that Arrowhead Studios are following the same methodology of balancing of Ubisoft Raindow six siege, its going to become the same toxic pit as R6 nefting the ones who are strong to become weak as the one who need the buffs nsted of buffing the one to become strong like the already stablish, that is how you break a meta.

    Bunch of nerds looking at a spreadsheet and doing balance base on raw numbers insted of understanding the problem.
    They said themselves they don't to beta testing before doing changes intro the live server they just look at the player reaction and them complain them the players call them lazy.

    Day by day im starting to dislike ArrowHead I think we're giving them too much credity where they don't derserve it.

  29. I love this game. It's the 1st game in a long time that I'm genuinely enjoying. Having said that, all these damn nerfs are really killing the game. I understand patches and balances, but most of them never work currently. I really do love this game and want Arrowhead to fix it, but if they dont do it quickly and correctly, this game will be dead, even for hardcore fans like myself. Arrowhead you made a super fun game. Please quit messing it up and just let us have fun.

  31. Fantastic video. Very well said. Touch on all the points and expressed how I feel as a loyal player since drop. Game should be easily in the 6 digits for player base. This studio and studio alone will be the death of this game.

  32. Why nerf the weapons? Would make more sens if they nerf/buff the weapons in some planets, suck as environment like snow, fire and fix the arc thrower

  33. I wanna say, the few weapons they buffed do a bit better.
    The slugger "nerf" is not really that bad, from what I can tell the spread and drag is basically unnoticable, but the increased stagger? being able to shoot a stalker and send him realing felt GREAT!

    Still, I feel for the people who use the flame breaker. I personally use the spray and pray or the default breaker.

I am great at these kind of games, but I really really enjoy the game, the guys that got me playing found a way to make this enjoyable for a old kat like me. but then they keep nurfing wepons, making easiser levels harder, etc. I am this close to being done. this keep happening, over and over again. PLEASE JUST STOP and think a little more before you mess with the controls like this.

  35. Eh the outrage is unwarranted imo. BI is still perfectly fine, just less spammable, flamethrower users will have to find another tool to deal with chargers, but there are enough options for that. The playerbase always loses it the moment the word nerf is mentioned, but it's still fine. Just expand your toolkits and maybe just maybe, lower the difficulty level?

    I do agree that some more primaries could use a bit of a buff though.

    Besides that, the new content is pretty cool

I understand why they think underpowered primaries is better for the balancing of all our equipment, but they should realize by now that means they need to either give us heavier firepower or nerf the ENEMIES. Getting railed by a single heavy devastator from 200+m away needs to fucking stop yesterday.
