  1. I think the nso's library is pretty good, but it did take a very long time to get there.

  2. I think the most important thing you didn't touch on was the Family Plan, where you can get together with your friends and get the expanded version of the online for 100 dollars for eight people. It's actually insane.

  3. I find it odd that NES online doesn't have at least one of the Mega Man and Castlevania games
Maybe expecting all of them when we already have collections with those games is asking a bit too much, but maybe having just the first Castlevania and Mega Man 2 (the ones people are most nostalgic over) would've been easier to license without Capcom or Konami getting grumpy about it

  4. i hate that the online bill goes towards these retro game apps i dont give a shit about rather then it going towards nintendo actually having good online for their games

the only game ive played more then once through the emulator is zelda 1

the only reason they can charge for an online that they hardly invest in making better at all is because theres no competition in the console market

its nintendo sony and microsoft, and they all force you to buy online subscriptions, so people dont care as much as they should when they do have to pay for these basic features

  5. Unless you play more then 5 different N64 games every year without exception that you haven't played before buying N64 Virtual Console games would be cheaper then the subscription.

  6. I relate alot to the "i forgot to update the app" like but it is kinda funny that i have mario odyssey, zelda: breath of the wild, my favorite game re4 but no i want to play f*cking clu clu land

"I won't use electric tools, I want to use STONE"

  7. Imagine if Nintendo linked your old virtual console games to switch like Xbox did with digital purchases? Yeah they’d never do that.

  8. No way people were saying they wanted a Netflix/NSO experience during the Wii U era. I don't believe it, I refute it, I hate it ong

  9. I feel like they called it "Virtual Console" because Nintendo is allergic to the word "Emulator"

  10. your nes rant is understandable because since you didn't experience that era there's a majority of great games MISSING never added to nintendo switch online. not counting the ones you said there's batman, ducktales, faxanadu and so much more. i think a lot of us gave up waiting and purchased a 3rd party handheld to play our old retro games such as a retroid pocket or anbernic. no need to verify the games are legitimate and everything we want is readily available to play.

  11. Id rather use Wii virtual console in Dolphin over Retroarch cores. It seems upscaled very nice.

  12. I’ve owned a Switch since launch and never paid for NSO. I either used it during the free period at the beginning, or recently a friend added me to his family subscription that he got in part of a bundle included with his new Switch. Had they allowed à la carte purchases, I would have most likely spent money on classic games. But I guess I’m the exception, not the rule.

  13. I bought City Connection on the eshop when it first released on the 3DS 🙂

  14. i wouldn't complain about it if it were also allowing purchases. i don't trust live service anything

  15. 21:20 Golden eye
in short the agreement ran out and ea (i think) doesnthave the rights anymore

  16. subscription imo would only be worth it if they granted 1 game of your choice to own even once subscription is cancelled, for each month you've paid for the service.
otherwise, besides the online play, emulation through another handheld or android phone is just essentially better long term, financially and because you literally own those games.

those emulators work better than nintendonts, and they also have online lobbys.
all for free… nintendont really need to do better by consumers or they quite literally will become obselete during their next generation. unless governents pander to the corps with new lobbied anticonsumer laws to further incriinate roms, and emulation development.

  17. I still think Virtual Consolle is superior in almost everything. The fact that NSO has so little while even the Wii U VC had already far more in less time. The fact you can purchase the games you want without being subjugated to the wims of a subscription model and online. Third parties and second parties are also incentivesed to put their games on the system if they sell it rather than rent it (that's why we got two generations of Pokemon on the 3DS VC and none on the Switch). With the NSO infrastructure a VC would be even stronger as it would be ready for Switch 2 right there at the start and if Nintendo want to use free old games to incentives people paying for online they can still do that while also running the VC at the same time, having the best of both worlds.

  18. I bet y’all feel bad for hating on the WiiU era now 🫵😂

I find it dumb how most of this is bashing the Virtual Console.

  19. Switch online is fine enough, but why is it the only option? Honestly i think bundles wouldve been nicer, on top of having good emulation of course. I dont like renting, i like owning. I bought a lot of 3ds games on VC because i had them to go with a good set of controls.

  20. My complaint with NSO back then was just how small the library was. If it was going to be this Netflix style service then you needed to have all the games we eventually got right from the get go. It launched with 20 NES titles and that was it. It needed all the NES and SNES titles we have now at the services launch. My biggest fear for the service is them having to do it all over again with the next system.

  21. I miss the virtual console there were so many great games to play compared to the piss poor selection of games they have on the switch online

  22. "i miss the wii u era"- person who never owned a wii u and and would get bored if they didn't have the "next big thing" to talk about every 5 minutes. Imagine if the switch's big holiday game was animal crossing amiibo festival or if the nso was trying to sell you 1 snes game a week for 8 dollars. 50 dollars a year for 100+ of Nintendo's retro games conveniently on your switch and download the roms you actually want on your pc and store them on a flash drive. "I want to own them not be in a subscription service" I'm sorry, since when was digital downloads ownership?

  23. Seeing all the japanese games being ported to the system gave me hope that we would eventually get Mother 3 as well…

    I was horribly wrong.

  24. One thing I don't see too many people bringing up that I really miss is that while n64 games on the Wii weren't exactly 10/10 emulation, in some ways they were actually much more enjoyable to play, with higher, smoother framerates and original glitches, crashes and problems being fixed.

It was a looser time where accuracy be damned if it looked better.

  25. Miss so many games on the Wii Shop l missed getting, so wish Nintendo would bring it back for just a month !

  26. I hate it when my games or music can disappear when I’m poor. It’s like retroactively having to pawn them, but I don’t get the money.

  27. The reason we will never get offical GameCube emulation is that Nintendo realized Virtual Console wasn't as profitable as uprezzing some assets and rereleasing the game for full price

  28. I played Super Metroid, Metroid 2, and Earthbound for the first time. I would’ve never done that if I had to pay 5 bucks for them.

  29. dont forget the DSI shop also contained warioware minigames as full purchases. like yeah they were cheap but what the fuck? at least do them as packs of 10

  30. Nintendo's refusal to sell older games on switch pushed me to learn how to hack my systems. Now i have a gba, snes, gb, gc and gbc emulator running on my vita. And idk what this guy is talking about saying nobody used vc on wii u; it was great. That's how I got into n64

  31. youre talking bs about the n64 app. there is no difference between the european and us app, its the exact same (not in the sense that it has the same features or whatever, its literally the same app). you can play the european versions if you want to (primarily meant for local language support), or you can just play the us versions if you want to play in english.
also saying the games didnt run at the framerate they were supposed to is hell of a revisionist history going on here, lol

  32. For me the one thing that I'm torn on with NSO+ is the DLC it includes. I purchased all the free DLC separately because i didnt think the online library was worth it. But now seeing everything Online + comes with, I do think it's worth the $50 a year. I wish there was an option to either refund the DLC i purchased so i could just re-gain them via Online+, or offer the N64, Genesis, and GBA games on their own for a cheaper price. But i don't see either happening

  33. As long as nintendo doesnt literally refund everyone when closing down a shops download capabilities, no new service of theirs will interest me.
Like, holy shit, just make it a console independent account thing or something and figure out the licensing of stuff ONCE for THAT THING.

  34. after all this time has passed, there are only a few games that I think need to be added to switch's online service. they've covered most of everything else. but I would kill for chrono trigger and earthbound and 2nd gen GBC Pokemon games. I keep a portable emulator literally just for those games

  35. I guess we're spoiled as Nintendo fans but seriously where is DK 64 Nintendo?!
