The Steam Deck OLED and the Steam Deck LCD are still my recommendation for most people who want to dive into the PC handheld space. And you should buy a Steam Deck in 2024 if you’re in the market. Most games run relatively well, especially for the age of the handheld. Take into account the continuous development and improvement of the handheld and it’s custom AMD APU and it’s continuously impressing it’s user base.

  2. BDO was on your games that don’t work list. I play it off the deck with a couple of my friends, you just have to pick the right version of Proton.

  3. I need advice, ive done some extensive research on every current Brand from Rog to lenovo, i want a rig that i can mod games should i go for the steam deck oled or the lenovo go . ?

  4. the deck the switch on the other side of the spectrum. like how the switch was not the most powerful, but it went on for years without upgrading the internals aside from the screen.

still sold so many units and a lot of customization, the deck is next to it imho.

  5. I bought the 1TB OLED Steamdeck and I’ve been playing Elden ring and armor core BEAUTIFULLY. I love the steamdeck. They do have handhelds that are a tiny bit better but not by much. I saw one that starts with a Z that looked nice. But I would be hesitant about looking at anything that’s not valve. keep in mind valve has been around forever and you likely have all your games on steam. Taking a risk and spending around $800-$1K for a device that steam doesn’t support is a risk. If you get a steamdeck you will be happy. But know that it’s a Linux based system. Some games require some easy tinkering. But valve lets you know this before you buy the game.

  6. Bruhhhh, one of the many reasons I bought Elden ring on steam deck was all these reviews that it was supported. Man it barely even runs… 35-40 fps

  7. I got the old model on sale and it allows me to access a vast majority of my library and it's easy to use. I don't wanna have to fuck around with it, I just want it to play games. Even older titles, I was thrilled when I found out Ghost Busters the video game played just fine. I did upgrade to a 2TB hard drive and did it myself, it was very easy and I didn't bother taking any of the safety precautions outside of shutting it off.

  8. I like Xbox cloud gaming and ps5 remote play from the deck has made it the ultimate gaming machine for me

  9. I’m in a steam deck group on Facebook and nearly 70% of the people on there said they wish they had an ally X.

  10. I may buy a Steam Deck but only when a much more powerful version is released. I may have to wait for a while, though.

  11. its just so unfair…. win consoles are able to play anything
steam deck is locked in linux…. the old story

  12. Just curious, how fast does it load a game or resume gameplay? I usually have only 5 to 15 minutes to play games before I go to sleep. Currently, I’m quite happy with the Nintendo Switch because it loads very quickly and reliably. However, I’ve been thinking about playing some of the games on the Switch that I already have on Steam. Also, Nintendo games are really expensive. Do you think it’s suitable for me?

  13. I'm just going to ask is the processing power better on the oled? My steam deck is probably going to spend more time in the dock by the tv.

  14. Isn’t stick drift a big issue with the steam deck I’m considering getting one over a Nintendo switch however the stick drift issue concerns me. Is there something on the steam deck that helps you prevent/ fix it?

  15. I want to get it, but I want a smaller version or a tablet with detachable controllers.

  16. Bought 2 LCD Steamdecks and one Rog Ally . Sold them all again , because I cannot force myself to play with them when I have a normal pc setup right next door . Also performance for everything except indie small games just run awful with these 40 fps cap.
Anybody that had 100hz or more will know what I mean . Barely playable

  17. I need something for a 17 hour flight I have coming up with my wife and five year old. Leaning heavy on the OLED..

  18. So if a used rog ally z1 extreme is cheaper than a used steam deck oled, then, asus is the one to buy?

  19. So is all games available just some u have to still use mnk if that’s the case then yea I would definitely want to get one of these but if there are games u just can’t play at all then idk

  20. idk imo the deck and the switch are like entry models. i have a deck oled, and a switch oled, a 3000 dollar laptop, and a lenovo legion go, and the go is my main gaming rig.

  21. I am a non-multiplayer, and the most I've done is co-op with my GF, and the steam deck has been great for me. The only games where I have had to lower graphics were 'High on Life' and 'supraland', but everything else, up to Doom 2016, run well.
Specs wise I have a 1 terabyte upgrade from a 64 gig model. My deck was pre ordered, and I got it right when they sartte to sell it without preorders.
I have done a lot of stem schoolwork. The only school relatd issues I have had with it is Fusion360, due to login issues while duel booting into windows.
My deck has been a great choice for my as a gaming pc and my daily school laptop.

  22. I really honestly dont get it… Is it because its cheaper?
If you want performance you want a PC and if you are traveling, you would want a lap top…I dont see any purpose to this thing… I mean if you are a 8yo kid I guess you dont know better.. You might as well get a 5$ handeld tetris game
