FINALLY, a Jeep Renegade makes its way onto Regular Car Reviews as the latest entry in the Race To the Bottom! But is this a contender for the crown, or has Stellantis actually delivered something worth praising? What is the history of the Jeep Renegade, and why are there so many Jeep logos? Why is this manual gearbox so controversial? Is it REALLY a Jeep or just a Fiat in Jeep clothing? This week, Roman takes a deep dive to discover whether the 2015 Jeep Renegade Sport 4×4 is worth your hard-earned money.

  1. Roman, based on comments in this video and others, I have gotten the impression that you have problems with disconnecting from technology. You do know that you can ignore the phone calls, text messages, social media, and instant messages any time you want. You don't have to attend to them instantly. It isn't being rude. They can wait and you can simply not deal with them for as long as you don't want to deal with them. If they are stressing you out or just interrupting driving time, silence them on the device and pick it back up like you went through a dead area. The people on the other end don't know and even if they did, they'll understand. If they don't, fuck 'em, they don't need to be in your life until they do. It's not like you are part of a gestalt mind and have to answer them instantly. You aren't a brain surgeon on call at a hospital. You're a car reviewer on YouTube and an human being that needs fucking nacho time. IT TAKES TWO HANDS FOR NACHO TIME! SO unplug any time you want to. It's you right and ability to any time you want.

  2. Yea.. it is actually kinda great. I honestly wouldn't mind owning one of these as a daily grocery getter and commuter. I like the way they look… good fender accents. Kinda fun.

  3. I test drove one of these with the manual and didn't have issues with the clutch. Not sure what that says about me, lmao, although my clutch technique is mostly being on the pedal as little as possible, and I learned in cars with double-digit hp so I might be more used to getting things rolling with not much torque or engine mass.
I test drove it mostly because I was curious how bad it could possibly be after all the Jeep bros badmouthed it so much. And I was pretty surprised I liked it. If it had been any colour other than white I might even have bought it. It reminds me a lot of a more modern and refined version of my Lada Niva. A simple, small, lightweight, inexpensive practical car for use on roads that many people wouldn't recognize as roads. The Renegade definitely tries a lot harder for its character than the Niva does, and while there's some genealogical connection to be argued about the two are technologically pretty far removed. But the function is the same and it's been allowed to dictate the form, so the forms ended up pretty similar too.

  4. Love this series but there’s gotta be a better way to represent the (14:47) “top bottom 5” gives me a stroke every time.

  5. It’s crazy cause this is like a direct competitor to the Ford Ecos sport, but they had to discontinue the eco-sport

  6. I enjoyed the video. Don't get me wrong. I have a Fiat 500X and got it for an affordable price. Its been a good car.

  7. As soon as I heard Roman's voice, I knew this was Race to the Bottom.
Whenever I look at these, I'm reminded of a fun-sized girl I worked with whom I thought I was going to get with, just because she owned one of these.

  8. I'm sad the gmt400 on the bad list. They're great trucks and especially great trucks when compared to the other bigger trucks of the 90s. Through my 30 vehicles owned including: Nissan, chevy Subaru, VW, Ford, Pontiac, Oldsmobile, Honda, Toyota, Jeep, Dodge, etc. In the years from 1980-2019, I have sold all but the gmt 400's (qty:3 1990, 1996 and 1999), 1 rare Pontiac Bonneville and a few Subaru's for fun. They are comfy, working units that don't give too many issues for a 35 year old vehicle.

Over rated? Maybe. Bad? I can't see the logic.

  9. Funny thing is that in eastern Europe it's still will be a "cool-looking" Jeep.
Nico Bellic accent "Yeah, it's actually a FIAT, but look at this Jeep design and badge! It's like almost having a Wrangler or Cherokee!"

  10. This car isnt for 'jeep guys' at all: its for the girl whose dream car was a wrangler, then find out on the test drive that it handles like shit on-road.

  11. If you’re angry about the Renegade and Compass, be mad at the government. Jeep did what it had to do to meet the average fuel economy required by the government to be able to still sell the Wrangler and then Gladiator.

Also, too many people are comparing it to a Wrangler. It’s not. It’s the “Jeep” of its category. Meaning, it’s the most offroad capable vehicle offered in the Subcompact SUV class. Find me another new US market Subcompact SUV that is more offroad capable than a Renegade Trailhawk.

  12. i have a 2017 latitude with the same power train. its not my favorite car, but its been a great car. its done everything ive asked it to do and all it wants in return is routeing maintenance. just about to hit 150k miles and still averaging 31-33mpg on my commute
